Thanks guys. It's fun to be able to post thoughts these days in many media. It's amazing to have this kind of freedom available to everyone....and to hear back so quickly from people who happen to read or listen. Rick, thanks for the Villa Montalvo suggestion. I've been there, but it's been too many years ago. Time to get back. Highway 9 leads up onto the wonderful ridge lands above the South Bay and Peninsula. Great public lands, vistas, trails and rock climbing in them 'thar hills.....and some beautiful winding mountain roads. So near to millions of busy people, and yet so far away. Like Hakone.

After seeing HAKONE, go east a mile or so out of Saratoga on Highway 9 (Los Gatos-Saratoga Road) to Villa Montalvo. Very pretty house and grounds.

That is very cool! I really like the map link as well to see exactly where this great travel tip can be found. I hope to see more posts like this in the future intermixed with your written posts. I like reading your posts, but it is always a pleasure to hear your "trademark" backroads voice every now and again!
