There must be a better way....
I just experienced another exciting rite-of-passage as an active new mom: changing my baby's diaper in the middle of a hiking trail. It was great comedy. We were on our way back down from Inspiration Point in Will Rogers State Park, which has terrific views of Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and the Pacific Ocean. My son had a diaper I just couldn't ignore, so (with no other options) I put him down on a little pad in the middle of the trail. It took less than a minute to change his diaper, but that was plenty of time for him to grab a few handfuls of dirt and dump them in his face! Luckily, I was with another mom who has a good sense of humor -- and a camera! You'll see the photos below.
If any experienced parents want to suggest a better way to change a diaper on the trail, I'd love to hear it!
