Over the years, I'd been on every street and to every place we mention in our 49 Mile Drive video. But seeing them all at once as part of a coherent and carefully planned road trip left me with a renewed appreciation for San Francisco's physical, cultural and historical diversity, its good and lively spirit and its sheer physical beauty. If it were up to me, and if I had the time to spend that the route truly deserves, I'd take a 49 mile scenic walk. In our video, we dashed by places that ought to be savored slowly. Chinatown, North Beach, the Presidio and Lands End, Golden Gate Park, the Mission District, South Beach and much more. In the near future, we'll add more detailed videos and stories about these and many other San Francisco locations. But for now, this scenic drive is a great introduction for newcomers and a reintroduction for us old-timers to a city that ought to be as celebrated as it is.
